CheckPoint® I and III Shipping, Storage and Activation Temperatures
We provide two types of CheckPoint® labels for varying applications.  Our CheckPoint® I labels contain biological materials that are temperature labile.  These must be stored in refrigerated environments (frozen for any extended length of time) to preserve their function.

CheckPoint® III labels are not thermally labile, and are stable at any storage and shipping temperature below 30°C.

Specialized Storage and Shipping Requirements for CheckPoint® I labels

The following diagram summarizes all relevant information regarding temperatures for the shipment, storage and use of CheckPoint labels:

What is the typical handling procedure up to the point of label installation?

CheckPoint® labels are supplied in a “non-running” condition. They must be activated prior to use. If they are not activated, they cannot perform their intended function. The required sequence of steps for using these labels is simple:

I have an operation in a cold room where I would like to directly apply the CheckPoint® labels.  Is this a problem?

Yes. CheckPoint® labels are not rated for activation below 12°C (54°F). Activation below this temperature in some circumstance could result in some small percentage fracturing of the permanent liquid seals of the labels.

Do I have to store labels in a freezer?

Yes. Please refer to the documentation above and the materials that are supplied with each shipment of labels.  Repeated cycling of labels in and out a freezer can shorten their useful life.  Please refer to documentation supplied with the labels or discuss with your sales representative.
